Fishes wins “Gourmand Best Cookbook of the World Award”
Cookbook Fishes best sustainable cookbook in the world

Fish Tales, the cookbook of Fishes, did win the prestigious “Gourmand Best World Cookbook Award” during the show on 3 March in Paris in the category ‘sustainability’. The jury announced Bart van Olphen of Fishes as the winner in this important category where the organization of the Cookbook Awards said “all need to read this fantastic book as this is of main importance for next generations”. The famous theatre “Les Folies Bergère” in Paris was the décor for the yearly most important cookbook award show in the world. Since 16 years Gourmand is organizing the event where the best books in the world are given a podium.

New Fishes packaging in supermarkets

The last months we worked very hard to finalize our renewed packaging line. All Fishes packaging has been changed into a new and stylish design where the fish and fishermen play the most important role. Fishes products will be available in fresh, smoked, frozen and canned products. Bart van Olphen opnieuw in duurzame 100

The founder of Fishes, Bart van Olphen, has been awarded by the renowned Dutch newspaper “Trouw” as one of the 100 most influential green Dutchmen. Every two years the newspaper publish this list of people who distinguish themselves within the environmental development. Bart increased from position 84 to number 65 on the list. Other ‘sustainable seafood’ people on the list are Christien Absil (Foundation Northsea, ranked 77) and Camiel Derichs (Marine Stewardship Council, ranked 96). Fishes Cookbook launched in USA
NEW YORK – WEDNESDAY 22 SEPTEMBER 2010
The translation of the cookbook of Fishes (Het Fishes Kookboek) has been launched in the USA under the title “Fish Tales”. Earlier this year the book entered the bookshelves in the UK and Australia. On Monday evening 20 September the first US edition was officially presented by author Bart van Olphen in the “Sea Grill” restaurant in Rockefeller Center during the first official MSC certified seafood dinner in New York City served by the well known chef Jawn Chasteen. Several dishes out of Fish Tales as for example MSC certified Hastings dover sole and plaice were served to American journalists. One day later the book was given by Boudewijn Poelman (CEO of the Postcode Lottery) as a present to all attendees of the “Protecting Living Oceans” dinner as part of the Clinton Global Initiative. Guests as filmmaker Mattias Klum, ambassador Jan Elliasson and entrepreneur Richard Branson enjoyed the sustainable seafood dishes.
