Fishes haddock originates from the cold waters of the North Atlantic. This delicious haddock is caught off the coast of Norway, at no less than twelve miles into sea, by means of what is termed long-line fishing. Hooks, fitted to a long line at equal intervals, must induce the haddock to bite. As the catch is conducted at night only, it does not pose a danger to birds. As such, it is an extremely sustainable method, both in terms of minimising damage to the seabed and bycatch. Haddock can reach a length of 100 cm and grow to be 20 years old. It swims from the seabed up to 10 metres underneath the water surface.
Fishes collaborates with the fishery in Måløy, the town where all fishermen who bring in the MSC haddock come from. This fishery also supplies Fishes with MSC certified cod.
